The Rotary Club of Doncaster St Georges presented Community Grants to ten local organisations at their meeting on 7th June 2007.
This year we have been able to donate to various local charities and Community groups a total of £4,270 to 10 organisations who seek to make a difference to the lives of people in Doncaster. We received more than twice as many applications this year as in either of the two previous years.
Amputees of Doncaster and District (ADD) offer support and friendship to amputees, their families and friends. Our grant will help towards transport and outings to help to improve the quality of the lives of their members.
Doncaster Autistic Society gives support to children and adults with autism and provides meetings and outings which enable members to live fuller and more enriched lives. Our grant will help towards the funding of one of their summer trips.
Danum Cardio Club is still a relatively new organisation and supports people living with heart failure. Our grant will help towards the cost of tai-chi sessions which gives sufferers a gentle and therapeutic form of exercise.
Faith and Light (Doncaster) is the local branch of an International movement which seeks to help people with learning disabilities and their carers live as full a life a life as possible by celebrating and enjoying the company of each other and other members of their local Community. Our grant will be used for various purposes including helping with the cost of an excursion, their Christmas Party and some artistic materials.
Home-Start Doncaster recruits, trains and supports volunteers who help families, often with only one parent, in times of stress such as bereavement, depression and Social isolation. We have made a grant to help with their Christmas Party.
Just Mediation (Doncaster Child Contact Centre) provides a safe, friendly and secure place for the children from broken families and relationships to meet the parent with whom they do not normally live. Our grant will help provide toys, games, puzzles and books for the children.
The Live at Home Scheme enables elderly people to remain in their own homes with the help of volunteers who may visit them or by means of their drop-in sessions. The grant will help to support the volunteers.
The Out and About Club is another fairly new organisation which supports people who have mental health problems. They meet in a safe and friendly atmosphere to Socialise and promote their confidence and self-esteem. Our grant will help with the costs of artistic and other materials.
St. Francis Xavier Primary School in Balby runs various adventurous educational visits to help their children in their learning and development. Our grant will enable three children to go on a trip that they otherwise would not be able to afford. More ...
Sue Ryder Care runs Hickleton Hall near Doncaster for people with life limiting neurological illnesses (e.g. multiple sclerosis) or brain injuries. Our grant will help towards the purchase of an additional specially adapted minibus. More ...
